“Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry,” John Denver
In my case, Red Buds made me cry.
Saturday’s light rain with sun rays cutting though the gray created beautiful, muted light. Driving north on I-65 I was do overcome with the beauty of the diffused light showcasing the pink hue of the Red Bud trees against the bright green of the new growth of the surrounding trees. I was in a high speed tunnel surrounded by the muted brightness of new, of spring. I teared up taking in the glorious scene. My internal jukebox started playing “Sunshine on My Shoulders.” It was a perfect moment.
Stopping on the interstate to snap a photo was not an option, but no lenses could have exactly captured the delicacy and layering of color that I was witnessing. There was no way to capture the feeling of what I was experiencing. It was a moment of awe.

I’d give to you the day just like today
If I had a song that I could sing for you
I’d sing a song to make you feel this way”
Gorgeous pics, Sarah, and such beautiful prose to describe it. I want to jump into that picture and ride horses with you.

Also, this post reminds me of a song called “Road to St. Stephens” by a band called Bubble Puppy. They were a great band and that is their best song, about exactly that kind experience and one of your photos there with the path is pretty much exactly what I picture whilst listening. Unfortunately the band didn’t get very far, part of which is because they chose such a stupid band name.

We were short on redbuds this year because of the freeze, but the wisteria did beautifully, and my response to it was similar. Lovely photos, and a lovely description of a special experience.
